Help:Image File Naming Conventions

Characters

• Use only plain latin characters and numbers.

• Use Title Case.

• Use only the underscore (_) as a separator.

• Include the file type as the file name extension (.jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp)

Example:

• The_Name_of_The_Image.bmp

Desciptive Names

• Use descriptive file names, separating words with underscores (_).

Example:

• Title_Page_STCV_6597167.jpg

Hierachical Names

• If you have multiple images relating to the same topic, use 'hierarchical' file names.

Example:

• Paper_Size_Folio.jpg
• Paper_Size_Duodecimo_Long.jpg
• Paper_Size_Duodecimo_Common.jpg
